I am pursuing a Masters of Science in Marine Biology under the co-supervision of Dr. Ian Bradbury (DFO/Dalhousie), Dr. Sarah Lehnert (DFO/ Memorial University), and Dr. Ian Fleming (Memorial University). I research how wild Atlantic Salmon populations in Newfoundland are affected by the combined impacts of hybridization with aquaculture salmon and climate change. My research investigates both salmon physiology and genetics to understand how hybridization impacts thermal tolerance in order to determine how aquaculture hybridization will impact wild salmon populations as the climate warms. This research has implications for the management of wild salmon populations as salmon aquaculture expands in Canada under a changing climate.
