Genomics and AI for resilient food systems and natural resources.

BioSecure is a Government of Canada initiative using genomics, artificial intelligence, bioinformatics and advanced surveillance technologies to strengthen the resilience and biosecurity of Canada’s food systems and natural resources. The project brings together researchers across all eight federal Science-Based Departments and Agencies, spanning agriculture, forestry, fisheries, aquaculture, wildlife conservation and regulatory science.

Its 17 interdisciplinary research activities are developing genomic and AI-enabled approaches to predict and respond to biological threats, improve food production and security, sustainably manage natural bioresources, enhance traceability and regulatory tools, and translate science into practical decision-support systems for government, Indigenous organizations, industry and other end users.
